Common Questions

What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please make sure that you arrive to our office at least 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment time so that you can provide us the necessary paperwork and insurance information necessary to include you in our system. To save time, you can also print the New Patient Forms located on our Forms Page and bring them filled out to your appointment.

Do I need a referral to make an appointment?
No, you do not need a referral to make an appointment to see Dr. Cipolla. We currently accept new patients to the Practice.  However, for your visit to be covered through your insurance plan, please contact your insurance carrier to understand the terms of your policy before your visit.

Do I need to have my blood pressure checked regularly?
We recommended your blood pressure be checked every two years after the age of 21.  We also recommend annual check-ups with your physician after the age of 50 and sooner check-ups if you have additional risk factors. Major risk factors for high blood pressure include family history, being overweight and having a high sodium or poor diet.

How is the doctor-patient relationship different here, compared to other medical offices?
We believe in providing patient-focused care. We take the time to listen to patients’ concerns and address any questions they may have. We are a medical pracrice that values all of our patients and appreciates the long-lasting relationships we create with them.

How will I pay for my care?
If you have insurance, please bring in your card and we will either collect your co-pay or bill you through your insurance plan. If you are not insured, we require payment at the time of service.  We strive to have all aspects of our practice, including our professional fees, reflect our ethical and rational approach to your medical care.

What is your cancellation policy?
We require a 24 hour notice to cancel all appointments. Please be sure to contact us if you will not be able to make your scheduled appointment with the doctor so as to free up appointment space for other sick patients. This office imposes a 50.00 no show fee.

How can I get a hold of my medical doctor?
We take pride in our doctor-patient relationships and strive to provide enough time for you to get all of your questions answered.  If you need to get in touch with your Dr. Cipolla in between appointments, please contact our office to leave a message or schedule an appointment.

How can I prevent a cold or flu?
Colds and the flu are commonly transmitted through the nose and mouth.  To help prevent colds and flu:

  • Thoroughly wash your hands.
  • Avoid contact with contagious individuals.
  • After being in the company of someone with a cold or the flu, make sure not to touch your nose or mouth where the virus could enter.
  • Stay current on your yearly flu vaccination.
  • Drink plenty of water to stay well hydrated.

How do you notify your patients of lab or test results?
On the Patient Information Form that you fill out on your first visit, there is an opportunity to answer how you would like to be notified regarding any test or lab result. We are usually able to notify patients within 24 hours of receiving results.

Will I be able to get copies of my test results?
Yes, upon request we will gladly provide you a copy of your test result.

Do you allow urgent or same day appointments?
We do set aside time for urgent and same day sick visits. However, if you are having a life threatening emergency, please dial 9-1-1.

What are your office hours of operation?
We are open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

If I schedule an appointment will I see a physician assistant or nurse practitioner instead of Dr. Cipolla?
Absolutely not. Dr. Cipolla prefers to manage the medical care of his patients without the use of mid-level providers to maintain a high standard of care you come to expect from a professional Practice.
